WAYCROSS, Ga. — Prayers echoed over the dozens who gathered by candle light to remember Shay Bellamy and her unborn child -- Elisha.

People attending Bellamy’s vigil Wednesday night had nothing but nice things to say about the mother of three.

“She was a great mom to her boys.”

“Anything you asked her to do she would do it.”

Clinton Davis is accused of shooting and killing his pregnant girlfriend.

Bellamy’s brother Joe says Davis shot his own son, 3-year-old Camryn and Shay’s other son, Jamarcus.

“Clinton was a part of our family for a couple of years now,” Joe Bellamy said. “They’re not going to have their mom anymore.”

Both toddlers are out of the hospital now.

Action News Jax cameras kept a respectful distance as dozens of Bellamy's family and teary-eyed friends stood in silent reflection.

For Bellamy’s long-time friend Kimberly Gordon, it was hard to hold back the tears.

“It was senseless acts of violence. I wish she would have told someone,” Gordon said.

Bellamy’s family says they have the same question as they did while police investigated Saturday – Why?

That’s the great question that all of us want to know,” Joe Bellamy said.

A lot of people wore purple at Wednesday night’s vigil. Family said that’s by design because purple is the color of domestic violence awareness.

Shay Bellamy’s funeral is set for Saturday.
