JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Four people have tested positive for COVID-19 at Jacksonville University, according to their online tracker.
Two of the four people are students and the other two are employees. For context, on any given weekday, the maximum number of people JU expects to have on campus is around 4,600.
Those with direct contact with the people who tested positive should have been contacted. The University is unable to share specific information about individuals who test positive, but said they will update the campus about active cases at JU and if they impact operations.
The four people were on campus, have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in isolation. Isolation is different from quarantine. An individual in isolation has tested positive for COVID-19. In order for the people to return to campus, there must have been at least 10 days since symptoms first appeared, 48 hours since having a fever, and all symptoms have improved. These factors are the criteria for symptom-based recovery as stated by the CDC.
Some of the guidelines that are laid out by JU to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 is:
- Keep 6 feet of physical distance between yourself and others
- Wear face coverings
- Wash your hands frequently
Classes resumed for students Monday.
