DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A man was killed when a tree fell on his truck as he drove down Interstate 20 Wednesday morning.
The crash happened on I-20 westbound just east of Hwy 92 in Douglas County. No other cars were involved.
Police said they will not identify the driver until they can reach his next of kin.
We're talking with investigators about the crash and how often the trees on the side of the interstate are inspected, for Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m.
Channel 2's Tom Regan confirmed that the Georgia Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining trees along the interstates. He reached out to GDOT, but has not heard back.

Investigators said they received multiple 911 calls reporting a tree had fallen on a pickup truck around 10:30 a.m. The investigation blocked several lanes for more than an hour before it was cleared around 12:15 p.m.

NewsChopper 2 was over the scene as first responders and investigators cleared the crash.
