ST JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol state that at approximately 8:14 p.m., a pedestrian was struck trying to cross the southbound travel lanes of State Road 13 in Fruit Cove.

A car traveling southbound on State Road 13 was approaching Otoes Place in the inside lane. The pedestrian was standing in the median with his bicycle attempting to cross when, according to witnesses, failed to observe the car in the inside lane.
Consequently, the front left of the vehicle collided with the right side of the person and the bicycle. The driver came to a controlled stop in the outside lane.
The person was redirected and came to final rest within the inside southbound travel lane. FHP said in the report that the person hit died from their injuries.
