5:30 p.m. Tuesday update: Sheriff Mike Williams with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office updated the media on the human remains found in Alabama during the search for missing 5-year-old Taylor Williams and on the arrest and hospitalization of the missing child's mother:
According to the sheriff, the search teams recovered the remains of a child in Alabama. An exact identification has not been made, he said.
Sheriff Williams said there are indications that these remains may be Taylor Williams. Brianna Williams has been arrested and charged with child neglect and giving false information to investigators, police say. Williams has been ‘absentee booked', but would not talk about the details of the child neglect.
Brianna Williams is in the hospital due to an apparent overdose. She is in serious condition.
Anyone with additional information is still asked to contact the Sheriff's Office. This investigation is "nowhere near done," according to Williams.
State Attorney Melissa Nelson says they still want to talk to anyone who may have additional information. If that's you, call JSO.
