Downtown Investment Authority moves forward with MOSH relocation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two new projects are just the start of what’s to come to Downtown Jacksonville in the next several years.

MOSH will soon call the North Bank home.

Its new building will be moved to the land called shipyards east.

“Their relocation to the north bank really provides an anchor facility in the activation of that corridor between Metropolitan park and the city center,” Downtown Investment Authority CEO Lori Boyer said.

The design of the project is set to be visually dramatic and unique.

Officials are excited to see it break ground.

The riverwalk would be extended on both sides so it would connect down to the new four seasons and the office building there,” Boyer said.

Just down the street, another project is making headway. Officials voted to move forward with Atlanta-based developer Carter on the Ford on Bay development.

“The fact that they’re doing a high rise. The fact that it’s architecturally unique and authentic to Jacksonville really spoke to everyone,” Boyer said.

Officials said the plans for the parcel of land allow for additional residential growth and public access to the water.

The two together will bring folks closer on either end of Downtown Jacksonville.

“What you can see is you have this connected system of tourist attractions and parks,” Boyer said

Next up for MOSH, officials said it’s working with its own design team to come up with a final site plan.

Down the road, the Downtown Investment Authority board is drafting an official contract with Carter for the Ford on Bay project.
