JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Pain was felt across The Legends Center on Sunday.
Action News Jax’s Princess Jhane Stepherson was on the scene and spoke with concerned parents after 4 young men and their football coach were hit with gunfire. It all happened while they were riding in a red SUV less than a mile up the road from the Legends Center and Gymnasium where they just had their tryouts.

That gunfire killed a 13-year-old boy and left his coach in critical condition.
“You can’t rebirth that child but you gotta hold your kids as tight as you can every night and make sure you tell them that you love them because you never know about tomorrow,” says Siteria Dukes.

Siteria Dukes is a mother of 4, she was playing with her kids at Legends and says the loss of a child is unbearable.
The shooting happened at the intersection of West Moncrief and New Kings Road. JSO says they don’t have a suspect right now, but they are looking through surveillance video, talking with witnesses and listening to 911 calls.

“If she is listening, don’t have silent tears. Anytime you feel like you want to go out and search and look you just cry,” says Siteria Dukes.
The heartbreaking shooting even choked up JSO’s Director of Investigations and Homeland Security.
“Anytime a child or anyone loses their life in our community it’s disturbing when it’s a 13-year-old, it’s unacceptable,” says Shawn Coarsey.
