STORY: Triple shooting at Raines High football game leaves one dead
A Jacksonville student was killed Friday after his car submerged in a marsh, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
Authorities said a car traveling east -- left the roadway in the 1400 block of J. Turner Butler Boulevard, just before the Marsh Landing Parkway exit., shortly after 11 p.m., struck a tree and landed in a nearby marsh.
Investigators believe the driver was trying to pass someone and overcorrected, causing the crash.
The driver, identified as Dominic Allmond,17, died after being pulled from the water, police said.

Local motorcyclist dies after SUV makes illegal U-turn on I-295, FHP says
Officials said Allmond was going at least the speed limit, but they do not know if he was speeding.
Police are currently speaking with witnesses.
Allmond was a high school student and basketball player at Bishop Kenny High School.
