JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Saturday, The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said 141 inmates tested positive for COVID-19 in the week since it began testing new inmates. Sunday, 37 more inmates tested positive for the virus.
Of 2,887 tests administered, 178 have come back positive. That’s a positivity rate of over 6 percent.
JSO also tested inmates that were previously in the jail before 20 inmates tested positive after coming in contact with a contract employee who had the virus.
12 inmates have refused testing.
JSO said inmates who refuse testing will be quarantined for 14 days.
