12/28/20 Update 11 a.m.:

Action News Jax has obtained the Jacksonville’s Sheriff’s Office incident report regarding shots fired near the Regency Square Mall.

According to the report, just after 8 p.m. Sunday, police were on Arlington Expressway for a separate, unrelated call, when they noticed a “very large crowd of people trying to enter the skate park for a concert.”

Police said they were speaking with concert security when several shots were heard going off in the area. JSO said the crowd began running and screaming.

The report states that officers were not able to find or identify a gunman because of the crowd. JSO said they found five bullet casings in front of a UPS Store that’s located within the same plaza as the concert venue.

“Two casings were on the sidewalk in front of the UPS Store and three were next to the sidewalk in the parking lot,” the report stated. There were no injuries reported and no property damage was found.

12/28/20 Update 8 a.m.:

The security that was hired for the concert with rappers YK Osiris and Toosii told Action News Jax that a shooting happened near the Regency Square Mall.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting, and according to security, when police saw the large crowd across from the mall, they moved over to the parking lot where the concertgoers were. The fire marshal was also called out to shut down the event because of the crowd, according to security.

The security said no one at the concert was hurt. Action News Jax is contacting the sheriff’s office to learn more about where exactly the shooting happened and if any arrests were made.

12/27/20 Update 11 p.m.:

Witnesses told Action News Jax Robert Grant there were several thousands, mostly teenagers at the Sk8 City Fun Zone for a “Toosii” concert.

Witness say they heard at least four shots fired in the parking lot.

When Grant arrived on scene, he saw two people get in the back of a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office cruiser in handcuffs, and several officers running across the parking lot.

A mother who was there with her 16-year-old daughter described the scene as “Chaos. People running around everywhere. After that, the crowd dispersed. Then police came out with AR’s.”

Davena Davis also told Grant there was a tense situation between security and concertgoers.

“Arguing back and forth. The climate – you could tell something was going to happen. They were pushing and not letting the kids in. So they were just standing out in the cold,” said Davis.

Action News Jax is still working to learn who fired the shots and if anybody was hurt.
