Child hurt in marine incident near JAXPORT, JFRD says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 8:25 p.m.: The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said a boat hit a sandbar and a child was sent into the air from the impact.

JFRD retrieved the child from the water to be transported to the hospital. The child is not in critical condition and they are expected to recover.

A child has been hurt in a marine incident in the 9800 block of August Drive, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

JFRD rescued the child and they were taken to the hospital. It is unclear what led to the incident at this time.
