ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — The City of Atlantic Beach is considering an ordinance that would ban the release of balloons and sky lanterns.

According to the ordinance, the City Commission considers releasing balloons or sky lanterns to be littering and poses a danger to the environment and wildlife.

If passed, you could be fined $250 per balloon or sky lantern up to a maximum of $1,000.
