Coronavirus: Inseparable Jacksonville mother-daughter teaching duo die days apart from COVID-19

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A mother-daughter teaching duo in Jacksonville died days apart from COVID-19 complications.

Marilyn Foshee and her daughter Julie Foshee-Knowell were both teachers at Trinity Christian Academy on Jacksonville’s Westside for many years.

Tom Messer, senior pastor at Trinity Baptist Church, said Foshee-Knowell was the preschool director and Foshee, who was affectionately known as “Mimi” the Trinity grandma, worked there with her.

Family and friends said they were inseparable in life.

Fate made it so they wouldn’t be separated after death.

Foshee lost her coronavirus battle last week.

Less than a week later, her daughter would share the same fate.

Debbie Fox was Foshee’s hairdresser and would see her every week.

“She was just so polite,” Fox said.

She said the last time she saw Foshee was the day before Thanksgiving. She said she knew something was wrong when Foshee didn’t come in these past three weeks or call.

“I was just worried that, you know, something was up,” Fox said. “She’s very faithful. She always calls when she was running late,” Fox said.

A spokesperson for the school said it’s believed both teachers may have contracted the virus over Thanksgiving break.

With Christmas this Friday, Fox has a message for families to be safe.

“Please, everyone, respect everyone around you,” Fox pleaded. “If you take care of yourself, you are taking care of somebody else at the same time because it works both ways.”

A GoFundMe was set up for the family. If you feel inclined to help, click here.
