JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s been a little more than a week since second doses started at the state-run Regency COVID-19 vaccine site.
Many reached out to us nervous about missing their second doses, so Action News Jax reached out and got answers.
A spokesperson with the state said second doses haven’t been scheduled yet.
Since opening Jan. 20, the state-run vaccination site at Regency Square Mall has vaccinated thousands of health care workers and those 65 and up.
Action News Jax spoke to 73-year-old John Frazier on Monday night, one of the first to be vaccinated at Regency.
Frazier said, “Since we are in within 10 days of the 21 days following my first dose, I was beginning to get a little bit anxious about why I had not received any information on the appointment for the second dose.”
His biggest worry — the fact that the back of his vaccination card was never filled out. So he called both the Regency 866-200-3762 appointment number and the state COVID-19 hotline.
“They were simply reading from a prepared document and said look at the reverse of your vaccination record card and show up at that date and time. And I kept explaining that my card is blank at the back,” said Frazier.
Action News Jax set out to get answers for Frazier and learned second vaccinations at the Regency site have not been scheduled yet.
”I suspect there are others in the same situation I am, that as they approach 21 days, which in my case would be February 11th... without having heard from the state,” Frazier said.
The state told Action News Jax at other state-run vaccine sites that have already started second doses, it’s making calls only two to three days out for second dose appointments.
But they will be the ones reaching out to you, just like they did for the first dose.
The state also mentioned that nobody should come to Regency without a confirmed appointment.
