COVID-19: Some Jacksonville restaurants and bars close following positive cases near the beaches

Several restaurants and bars are closing after some positive cases of COVID-19 have popped up near Jacksonville’s beaches.

  • The Tavern, The Wreck - The owner of The Tavern and The Wreck said a total of two Tavern employees have tested positive for COVID19, out of about 35 total employees tested between the two businesses. The owner said they plan on reopening Thursday with safety measures in place.
  • TacoLu - The restaurant closed Tuesday after learning an employee had tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Cruiser’s Grill - Closed out of an abundance of caution to complete employee testing and re-sanitation of the restaurant. Set to reopen Thursday at 11 a.m. for lunch.
  • Catullo’s - An employee tested positive for Coronavirus. They closed immediately and are having the entire staff tested before returning to work, in addition to the restaurant getting professionally disinfected and sanitized.
  • Jax Beach Brunch Haus - Had the whole restaurant sanitized and disinfected. All employees who feel they may have been exposed are being quarantined, and all staff will be getting tested before returning to work. Jax Beach Brunch Haus said on their Facebook Page that, “For the safety of our staff and guests we will be moving to carry out and delivery only starting Friday. We have been notified that someone with Covid-19 was in our building over the weekend. We have already sanitized and disinfected the entire restaurant and all employees are being tested before coming back to work. Thank you all for your support during these times. On a lighter note this Sunday is Fathers’ Day as well as our 3 year anniversary! So call in your order to 904-945-HAUS(4287) and bring Dad home some of our great brunch and maybe a Bloody Mary or two.”
  • Mellow Mushroom in Jacksonville Beach – A sign spotted by Action News Jax on the front door of the Jacksonville Beach location on Monday and Tuesday stated, ‘Closed today for deep cleaning and maintenance.’
  • Angie’s Subs - Employee tested positive, the restaurant said. The restaurant said it is being professionally cleaned and it is asking all employees to get tested for the virus. It plans to reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday, depending on test results.
  • Dance Salsa Jax
  • Hoptinger - Has not had any cases reported from either of its locations in Jacksonville Beach or Five Points. Restaurants will undergo professional sanitation and will have all employees tested.
  • Shim Sham Room - Has not had any cases reported. Establishment will undergo professional sanitation and will have all employees tested.
  • Mini-Bar Donuts - The shop said it hasn’t had any employees test positive, nor does it have anyone waiting for results. The Jax Beach location was closed as an extra precaution to deep clean and will be back open 6/18.
  • The Wine Bar – As of 11:30 AM Wednesday morning the business was closed, with a sign on the door stating ‘closed for now.’ Action News Jax noticed what appeared to be the same sign displayed on the front door on Monday. On Monday, an employee told Action News Jax the business was closed for a deep clean.
  • The Brix Taphouse - Wednesday The Brix Taphouse closed their building to sanitize and clean the facility. According to a Facebook post, no employees have COVID-19 and no employees are awaiting results.
