JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver they said hit a person and left them for dead on Jacksonville’s Southside.
The fatal hit-and-run crash happened overnight on Southside Boulevard near Perimeter Park Boulevard.

Troopers said the suspect’s vehicle is a 2001-2005 model Honda Civic with damage to the right side of the car that’s consistent with hitting a person.
FHP said the car is missing a right side mirror and would have damage to the right headlight.

The color of the car is unknown at this time, according to FHP.
The identity of the person killed was not released.
