FHP searching for person who shot at cars along I-4, I-95

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Shots were fired at cars on Interstate 4 and Interstate 95 on Wednesday night, stretching from Central Florida all the way up to St. Johns County.

Volusia County deputies said nearly 20 cars were damaged. It started in Seminole County along I-4, then continued all the way up to I-95 in St. Johns County. That’s where state police said three cars were damaged.

The areas in St. Johns County reported to the Florida Highway Patrol were I-95 northbound at International Golf Parkway, mile marker 318 and mile marker 302.

Troopers believe those incidents are connected to similar incidents in Seminole and Volusia counties.

John James said he was visiting from Atlanta with family when glass shattered around him.

“I think God I’m alive, that it didn’t strike any one of us,” said James.

The Volusia County sheriff believes the gun might have been a BB or pellet gun. FHP said it found a car in Jacksonville that’s possibly involved. Right now, it’s still working to confirm that.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
