According to JEA, at around 2 p.m., staff noticed smoke and fire on the fuel conveyer belt and called Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. Staff subsequently evacuated the building.
JFRD battled the fire for several hours, but fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire by 5 p.m. They deemed that the conveyer belt was not operating at the time of the fire. The rollers were damaged and about 200 feet of the belt was on fire.
