Fred Laster Case: Suspect formally charged 26 years after murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The long-standing cold case murder of 16-year-old Fred Laster received some answers Thursday.

The state attorney announced that a Duval County grand jury formally indicted Ronnie Hyde with first-degree murder.

Hyde was arrested in March of 2017, after Laster’s body was found dismembered in a dumpster in 1994.

Hyde is also charged with 25 counts of possession of child porn.

The assistant state attorney, Alan Mizrahi, is prosecuting this case.
