Guns N’ Hoses 2021: Charity boxing tournament happening on Saturday

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The 22nd annual Guns N’ Hoses fight night returns this Saturday after being canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The boxing tournament typically consists of local police and firefighters, who often work side-by-side on a daily basis, as well as other amateur boxers, going head-to-head to raise money for charity and bragging rights.

The event has raised more than $1.6 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the FOP Foundation, which gives to several local charities, according to the event’s website.

Event organizers say this year the NYPD Police and Corrections Boxing Team are coming to the city and Jacksonville’s first responders are teaming up to defend their house.

The tournament will take place at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, June 19. There will be a street party at 3:30 p.m. and then the bell will ring at 6:30 p.m., followed by an after party at 10 p.m.
