JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has northbound traffic on Ocean Street from State to Union streets blocked off as they investigate a shooting.
Police said at 5 a.m. Thursday, a police officer in the area heard a gunshot in the 1000 block of North Main Street.
That officer canvassed the area and found a man in his 50s in the 800 block of North Ocean Street who had been shot in the arm.
Officers arrived and gave life-saving aid to help because of arterial bleeding. Police said he was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition, according to police.
Police said the male shooting suspect was seen running from the area. The violent crime unit is investigating.
Drivers in the area can use Main Street as an alternate route.
