JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority said the Acosta Bridge will be lit up in rainbow colors from June 6-10 to celebrate Pride Month.

At this time, no resolution has been introduced or voted on by the Jacksonville City Council regarding the bridge’s lighting, per the previous request from the Florida Department of Transportation.

Sources tell Action News Jax’s Ben Becker that FDOT said it does not plan to take any action to stop lighting pattern this year, despite no resolution and JTA not complying with the lighting permit.

This time last year, the bridge was lit up in rainbow colors and then switched to its normal blue.

Last year, FDOT initially forced JTA to turn off the rainbow lights because it violated a permit -- but the rainbow lights did eventually return. FDOT also said it had received complaints about the color scheme last year.
