JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to a fire in the 1800 block of Broadway Avenue on Sunday.
Action News Jax spoke with JFRD crews who were at the scene. They said two apartment units were damaged by the fire with the right-most unit taking the brunt of the damage. That unit had three occupants including a child.
One of the occupants was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The other unit had one male occupant who was also evacuated.
JFRD had 13 units respond and the fire was under control in 10 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it seems to be electrical, according to JFRD. The fire started in the back of the house.
The Red Cross was requested for three adults and one child, according to JFRD.
