JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in a murder investigation that stemmed from a shooting on Friday, Sept. 24, in the Hillcrest area.
JSO identified the suspect as Stephen Navarro, 30.
Police responded to a shooting at the 1100 block of Lane Avenue S near the Westwood Apartments on Sept. 24 and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from their injuries, according to police.
A homicide investigation quickly began, and Navarro was identified, located and arrested. According to JSO records, he was booked into jail the night of the shooting on Sept. 24.
Navarro is now awaiting trial and facing a second-degree murder charge.
His next court date is set for Oct. 18.
