JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Fire and Rescue and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead Sunday morning after a recreational aircraft crash on Monument Road.
JSO says that a man in his 60′s took off in an ultralight aircraft at Craig Airport when the aircraft crashed on a golf course in the 1700 block of Monument Road.
Police say that they were dispatched to the crash around 6:20 a.m.
Officials say that the man is not believed to have had his pilot’s license. However, you are not required to have a pilot’s license to fly an ultralight aircraft.
Since there are no license requirements for this aircraft, the Federal Aviation Administration is not investigating this crash.
JSO will be the agency in charge of the investigation.
