JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The FBI Evidence Response Team is responsible for finding and preserving evidence.
Lauren Regucci is the lead agent on the Jacksonville team. She has led high-profile local cases like the search for Susan Mauldin in a Georgia landfill and played a role in investigating the Pulse Night Club shooting.
Forty-nine people were murdered inside the Orlando night club and it became a massive multi-agency investigation.

“I think most people on my team would say it was one of the worst scenes that we ever every encountered because of the number of people that were killed,” Regucci said.
Regucci said most of Jacksonville’s role was to investigate the exterior of the club scene.
“There were shell casings in the grass and the surrounding lot there were shell castings everywhere.” Regucci said.
Training is ongoing for the team, including using the old PGA Tour building recently create an explosion with rubble for agents to find evidence.

Regucci said trainings like these are important so agents can learn how to collect and preserve evidence in rubble to prepare them for real-life collection.
Regucci has worked with the FBI for close to 20 years, starting out in the New York office.
