“Lost for words”: Jacksonville mother searches for answers in 19-year-old son’s murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Larry Tould was shot and killed at just 19 years old and now the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for answers and the teen’s family is fighting for justice.

Sheria Thomas, Tould’s mother, described a son that could make anyone smile even on the worst days. He was a football player, son, brother, and friend to many.

The 19-year-old was shot and killed on January 26 after police said a fight between two girls on social media led to a gathering of 100 people on Ken Knight Drive.

Thomas showed Action News Jax Robert Grant video that surfaced on social media of the gathering. The video appears to show a car hit Tould just moments before he was shot and killed.

”I’m at a loss for words. The who, the why, the when is really what’s tearing me down. I lost my son, but I never lost my faith,” Thomas said.

Thomas and Tould’s sister, Tiana Washington, said the 19-year-old saved another girl from getting hit by a car just moments before he was killed.

”You can see him push her out of the way — because it would’ve killed both of them,” Thomas said. She added that it brings some comfort.

However, the family is still fighting for justice. On Saturday, they are joining MADDADs to canvas the neighborhood and go door to door in search of answers.

Thomas said she believes someone knows something and encourages anyone with information to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.

If you have any information about the murder, you can call contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
