Police: 2 arrested, charged in the shooting of a police officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two suspects involved in the incident where an officer was shot Monday have been arrested.

Anthony Gantt and Diamonds Ford have been arrested for armed possession on marijuana with intent to sell. Following the initial investigation into the shooting of an officer, both suspects have been arrested for attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, according to JSO.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the police-involved shooting that occurred on Monday, September 28, 2020, in the 7200 block of Rutledge Pearson Drive. The suspects involved in the incident have been identified as Anthony Gantt (Black/Male, 28) and Diamonds Ford (Black/Female, 28). As a result of the search warrant and subsequent investigation, both suspects were arrested for Armed Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell. Following the initial investigation into the shooting of the officer, both suspects have been arrested for Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer.

The officer shot during the execution of the search warrant, Detective R.M. Nauss #6404, continues to recover at home. We ask that the community be respectful of the Nauss family’s privacy during this time.
