Police identify man wanted for murder in shooting behind Baymeadows strip mall

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police announced Monday that they are searching for a 21-year-old accused of fatally shooting a man behind a Baymeadows strip mall last month.

On Jan. 27, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man in his 20s was found shot in a wooded area behind the strip mall at 9550 Baymeadows Road, where the Walmart grocery store, Avis and Advanced Auto Parts are located.

Officers said he was rushed to a local hospital where he died.

JSO’s homicide detectives, along with the crime scene unit, began an investigation and identified Marquis Daniels as the suspect.

An arrest warrant for murder has been issued.

Daniels is known to be a transient and is believed to be in the Baymeadows Road area.
