Sports apparel stores going all-in on Trevor Lawrence gear

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — All eyes are on draft night, and Jacksonville is getting ready for what it’s hoping is a new era for the Jaguars.

When it comes to the No. 1 pick, many fans have only one guy in mind, and that’s Trevor Lawrence. Now, sports apparel stores are going all-in with hopes that he’s the guy to change this franchise around.

“I couldn’t imagine them taking anybody else,” Jaguars fan Chris Caric said. “I think he’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime player.”

With draft day being just one day away, sports apparel stores are preparing for the rush.

“The phone starts ringing right away,” owner of Sports Mania, Matthew Smith, said. “The sales will be massive in the preceding day, and it will take us five to seven days to get the jerseys.”

Sports Mania in Jax Beach has already sold over 250 Lawrence-related shirts before the draft and stated over 400 jerseys will be available before August.

“The guy is amazing, and the fans want the product, and we want to deliver what the fans want,” Smith said.

The hype is real, and there’s no doubt about it.

As Caric heads to Cleveland for the draft, he picked up some “Trevor Lawrence” gear himself so that he could stand out and be part of the new Jaguars era.

“I don’t think there will be too much teal in a sea of brown and orange with all the die-hard Browns fans in Cleveland but always have to represent for the Jags,” he said.

Sports Mania stated the official NFL Draft Jaguars hat has been the top seller so far because fans want to wear the same cap they hope Lawrence puts on come draft night.

It also stated when the Jags are having a winning season, sales are over 30% higher. It hopes it can reach that number again with Lawrence in town, especially after a tough year with COVID-19.
