JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Monday, May 3, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an armed individual in the parking lot of a tire shop on Arlington Road.
The suspect was holding a rifle and “within seconds” of the officer’s arrival, the suspect fired at the victim, striking him and the business multiple times.

The suspect tried to run away after firing the gun, but JSO was able to stop him and take him into custody.
The suspect has been identified as James Lamar Taylor, 27.
Taylor was arrested for murder and aggravated assault.
According to JSO, this is Taylor’s first arrest in Jacksonville.
Action News Jax is researching other counties for past arrests.
