JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s no secret that rising gas prices are affecting everyday people.
“I drive a van, so it’s definitely a lot,” Heather Seuell told Action News Jax.
The increasing price at the pumps is also making it harder for ride-share drivers to do their jobs. Uber plans to combat the issue by adding a surcharge to rides and deliveries.
Beginning Wednesday, you can expect to pay an extra 45 or 55 cents per ride, depending on where you live, and an extra 35 or 45 cents for Uber Eats deliveries.

Seuell is on board with Uber’s move.
“It’s kind of frustrating, but at the same time, it’s helping the drivers out,” she added.
The company claims that 100% of the surcharge will go to its workers.
“I do think it’s great because it helps them out in the long run. They have to pay for their own gas, and they’re not making a lot of money,” Seuell said.
The surcharge will remain in place for the next two months, according to the company.
Seuell says it’s worth it.
