JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was robbed outside a Walmart on Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville, according to a police report.
A good Samaritan jumped into action to save the victim.
The report says the woman walked out of Walmart at Atlantic and Kernan on Jan. 29 around 4:45 a.m., put her groceries inside her car and returned her shopping cart.
On her way back to her car, a man approached her from behind and told her to give him her purse.
The report says the woman refused and the man grabbed her purse while it was strapped around her back and arm.
The man then dragged the woman with the purse until a bystander came over and pulled the man off of her.

The bystander got her purse back, but the report says the suspect was able to grab hold of her wallet. He then got into an older model, burgundy Cadillac CTS and drove off, according to the report.

The man who helped the victim described the suspect as a tall white man wearing a gray hoodie. He was also wearing a red hat, according to the report.
The victim said her left arm felt like it was dislocated or broken. She was treated by JFRD and said she would take herself to the hospital.
Caleb Prudee was in his truck when he said he saw the woman struggling with a man.
“He was kind of slinging her around,” Prudee said.
He knew something was wrong when he heard the woman screaming for help.
“When the lady screamed, ‘help me.’ She really needed help. She was scared for her life,” Prudee said.
He said he told his wife to drive closer and he jumped out of the truck to help.
Prudee said the suspect was about to drive off, but he caught the door as he was trying to shut it.
He said he got into a scuffle with the suspect and was able to wrestle the purse out of his hands.
However, the suspect got the wallet before he took off.
Action News Jax asked JSO if there’s any surveillance video or pictures of the suspect, but the agency said it doesn’t have any to release at this time.
JSO did not have any arrests listed in the report.
