Police have not released the woman’s identity, but they said the woman’s boyfriend discovered her inside their apartment and their roommate is in police custody.
Jacob Evans lives in the same complex and said he was shocked to see the massive amount of police investigating right next to his building Friday.
“It was an overwhelming amount of police cars and evidence vans and that kind of thing. It seems like whatever was going on was pretty important, with the amount of resources they were devoting to it,” Evans said.
JSO said Friday afternoon a man came home to find his apartment covered in blood before discovering his girlfriend’s body.
Police believe the woman died after being beaten to death. Officers detained she and her boyfriend’s roommate, who is a person of interest in the case.
While police were investigating, they roped off a dumpster as evidence.
“It was a little, kind of eerie, I would say,” Evans said.
Police said the woman was between 20 and 25 years old.
Evans said this makes him want to hug his loved ones a little closer.
“Those things only happen every so often, and you can never really plan for them. So enjoy the time while you got it, you know?” Evans said.
