Woman in critical condition after being shot on porch, Jacksonville police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman is in critical condition after she was shot Monday morning on the porch of a home in Northwest Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Police responded to the 5800 block of Christobel Avenue, which is east of Edgewood Avenue West and Moncrief Road, around 7 a.m.

Officers said the woman, who is around 25 to 30 years old, ran to a neighbor’s house after she was shot in the torso.

Police said they went to the home where the shooting took place and “ensured the shooter was not there.”

Investigators identified a person of interest, but they are not releasing that person’s name at this time.

JSO said it appears the victim and shooter know each other, but it is not yet known what led up to the shooting.
