“We are treating this investigation as a suspicious death with foul play suspected,” JSO Sergeant Edwin Cayenne said.

Saturday morning, JSO dispatch received a call about a woman’s body found in Riverview Park.

It was an uncommon discovery that is now stirring up lots of questions in the community.

“This is the first time I’ve been here as long as I’ve worked for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office,” Sergeant Cayenne said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office along with the State Attorney’s Office is investigating the homicide.

Tragically, not only was FeLicia’s life cut short but so was her baby’s.

According to a GoFundMe set up by Jones’ family, FeLicia was expecting her baby boy in just two weeks. His name was going to be Ma’kailand.

Action News Jax law and safety expert Dale Carson said police are looking at two homicides in this case.

“The baby in utero is the same as a human being so the result is that the individual is charged with murder would also be charged with murder of the child,” Carson said.

Carson said investigators’ next step would most likely be to conduct interviews and create a timeline.

“Typically these are crimes of passion and oftentimes they are premeditated,” Carson said.

JSO did not say if there were any visible gunshot or stab wounds and said that information will be provided pending the autopsy.

As of Monday, JSO said there are no updates in the case.
