Woman suffers severe injuries after being shot in the face

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sunday evening at approximately 9 p.m. Jacksonville Sheriff’s officers received multiple calls related to a shooting near Welland Road.

Upon arrival, JSO found a woman in her early twenties, with two gunshot wounds to her face. An officer rendered medical aid until the Jacksonville Fire Department arrived.

When JFRD arrived on the scene they then transported the woman to a local hospital as she sustained life threatening injuries yet stable.

Detectives are investigating, and JSO says there are witnesses and will be collecting evidence from the crime scene.

JSO says this was not a domestic-related shooting.
