Yulee Middle School teacher/coach won’t face charges after possible ‘misconduct’ investigation

YULEE, Fla. — Action News Jax is learning new details in the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a former Yulee Middle School teacher and coach.

The report states “this case is cleared unfounded.”

Action News Jax is not naming the teacher, as he was not charged with a crime.

According to the report, the former Yulee Middle School staffer allegedly texted a female student athlete “come see me,” the night before asking her to meet with him one morning.

The report says the student claimed she met with that coach in the teacher’s lounge to discuss her performance in softball.

The student claimed the teacher and coach told her something along the lines of “…when I turn 18, contact him, because he is already sexually attracted to me…”

She also alleged the former teacher and coach touched her inappropriately in a previous encounter before their one on one meeting.

The report went on to state the teacher and coach admitted to telling her she can contact him after she turns 18 but insisted, he did not mean it in a sexual manner.

The deputy wrote that the teacher admitted he didn’t handle the interaction properly, but the claimed he wasn’t attempting to develop any type of inappropriate relationship.

While no charges were filed, an investigator told the principal of Yulee middle school he “… had serious concerns about [the teacher’s] interactions with [the student] … ”

The NCSO investigation began on Jan. 31, and the teacher resigned on Feb. 6.
