“He’s irreplaceable”: Family mourns death of motorcyclist killed in crash on Beach Blvd.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are still investigating a deadly crash that left a motorcyclist dead, while the other driver involved left the scene and is still out there.

The family has identified the motorcyclist as Daren Miller, family tells Action News Jax he was a beloved son, brother, and friend to everybody he met.

Daren Miller is described as a person with a heart of gold and now memories are all his family has left to hold onto. He was killed in a motorcycle crash between him and another car. Police say the driver that collided with Miller left the scene. Investigators believe he was driving a Honda Accord.

His family spoke publicly for the first time to Action News Jax.

“I don’t know how we’re going to find the strength to somehow carry on without him,” his twin brother Daniel Miller said. “He’s irreplaceable, someone like that is one out of a million.”

911 calls reveal details from that night.

“He got hit, we don’t know if he was on the motorcycle and got hit by the vehicle or if a vehicle hit him,” the caller said.

Daren’s twin brother, Daniel Miller still trying to piece together what happened that night.

“The guy hit my brother, he got out and ran,” Miller said. “He left my brother lying in the middle of the street there dying.”

Since birth, Daniel said the two did everything together. They worked at their family business called Chips Tree Service, he and Daren were on their way home from work and drove separately when the crash happened.

Daniel made it home, but Daren didn’t.

“I just had a feeling in my chest, like in my heart and I went looking for him and we found him just right up the street three blocks from his house,” Miller said. “We waited there until it took him away and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, I felt like he needed me and I wish I could give him one last hug.”

“You done ran this man over on the motorcycle,” the witness said in the video to the man walking.

The man in the video headed towards the family dollar and the security video Action News Jax got from the business shows him leaving out the back door. Action News Jax asked JSO if the man in the video is the other driver, they told us they’re “Unable to say whether or not it’s the individual involved; however, they will be looked at as would any tip/investigative lead that we receive.”

Another 911 call said someone stopped traffic around Daren.

“Right across from the family dollar someone just got ran over by a car,” the caller said “They’re trying to go around him someone blocked the middle lane with their car.”

Daren’s mother, Betty Watson, is begging for anybody with information to come forward.

“I’ve lost Daren and my son Daniel here has to go on without his brother by his side,” she said in tears. “He was his keeper, he was his protector, he was his everything and someone took that from him.”
