Father of 3 killed in Jacksonville Beach shooting near 17th Avenue North and 2nd Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 5 P.M.: Police are still searching for the gunman who killed 28-year-old Jake Robert Hall in Jacksonville Beach last night.

The public could be crucial in solving this case, which is why police are asking anyone in the area to look over surveillance footage.

“We need more information, so we are pleading to the community for their assistance. Whatever they saw or heard -- any surveillance, anything of that nature,” said Sgt. Smith, with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

With no known motive or suspects, police are desperate for answers.

“We really have very little leads to go off of right now,” Smith said.

All afternoon, Action News Jax watched as police searched every inch of the area for evidence. The sound of gunfire is rare in this neighborhood and it has neighbors shaken.

“I heard the gunshots outside and immediately just jumped on the floor. I mean it sounded like somebody pulled out a gun and was unloading it in my house,” said William Kager, who lives next door to the victim.

Local neighbor Nicole Moore said, “I was scared. I was like ‘oh my God. I don’t want to go near the windows.”

Kager said, “It’s just horrible that somebody would do this to somebody, a father of three beautiful little kids. I mean, what? How can anybody do this?”

Police are asking anyone within a six-block radius of 17th Avenue North and Second Street North to call with any information, especially if they have a doorbell or security camera.
