JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation has issued traffic alerts for road improvements and repairs around Jacksonville. Detours for two separate planned closures are being advised to drivers.
I-95 Southbound from Eighth to Fifth Street
Beginning on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, one Interstate 95 southbound lane from Eighth to Fifth Street will be closed temporarily.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, one southbound lane of I-95 from Eighth to south of Fifth Street, including the Eighth Street on-ramp to I-95 southbound, will close at approximately 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9. The closure is for bridge deck repairs on the I-95 south overpass at Fifth Street.

The closures will be in place for approximately two weeks.
The Eighth Street ramp closure will have traffic detour to either North Myrtle Avenue and Kings Road, or North Davis Street and State Street to I-95 southbound.
JSO is warning drivers that they may see increased traffic or congestion during peak driving hours. People are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
I-95 South Detours Planned for Next Week at the I-10/I-95 Interchange Improvements Project
A second traffic alert has also been issued by the Florida Department of Transportation beginning on Monday, Sept. 12.
As part of bridge construction activities for the FDOT’s I-10/I-95 Operational Improvements project, there will be overnight detours of I-95 south Monday, Sept. 12 through Thursday, Sept. 15 from 10:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. and Friday, Sept. 16 from 10:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. This schedule is weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

Drivers on I-95 south will be detoured to the Forest Street exit, left on Forest Street, left on Riverside Avenue and take the Acosta Bridge to rejoin I-95 southbound.
About this project
Operation improvement and enhancements will be made to the interchange at Interchange 95 and Interstate 10, the Fuller Warren Bridge, and along the east side of U.S. 17 north bound between McDuff Avenues and Rosselle Street.
