Man dies in high speed crash near Fleming Island High School

Two Osceola County deputies were injured during the Saturday morning funeral procession for a victim of the Pulse nightclub shooting. Deputies say the crash doesn't appear to have been intentional.(WFTV)

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. — A man from Jacksonville died in a high speed crash in Clay County over the weekend, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened near Fleming Island High School at approximately 7:39 p.m. Sunday.

24-year-old Wayne Watson II was traveling on Town Center Boulevard near Village Square Parkway, when his car left the road and hit a tree, troopers said.

No other vehicles were involved, and it's not clear if alcohol played a factor in the crash.

FHP said Watson II was not wearing a seatbelt.
