The inmates were cleaning up trash along the road when they saw the crash.
FHP said the woman was driving on SR 16 near San Giacomo Road, which is east of Pacetti Road in the World Golf Village area.
There was a lot of construction and traffic at the time of the crash. The woman told FHP she was turning a corner and instead of hitting a car, she went off the shoulder and into a ditch.
Her car flipped on its side and the group of inmates rushed into the ditch, which had ankle-deep water, to make sure she was OK.
FHP said the woman has a possible injury to her shoulder and was taken to a nearby hospital.
