PALATKA, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported one person is dead in a fatal ATV accident that occurred on the property of Hog Waller Campground and ATV Resort Saturday afternoon.
According to the FHP’s official press release, the accident happened around 2:00 p.m., when a Can-Am side-by-side vehicle, was traveling on the campground’s property. The driver, a 21-year-old male reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
One passenger, a 30-year-old male was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He suffered fatal injuries and was transported from the scene to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The other passenger, a 28-year-old male did not sustain any injuries during the accident.
The FHP has not released the identities of the individuals involved in the accident, and no information regarding charges or arrests has been made available.
The FHP has urged all drivers to exercise caution and follow all safety guidelines when operating recreational vehicles.
