JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said two people died in a crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 95 northbound near Southside Boulevard.
FHP said a 1999 Mustang, driven by 23-year-old James Gourd of Greenacres, Fla., was traveling northbound on I-95 in the right lane.
The Mustang traveled off the road "for unknown reasons," FHP said, and crashed into a tree. Both Gourd and his passenger, 22-year-old Daniela Albornoz of Greenacres, Fla., died as a result of the crash.
The right lane was blocked for nearly two hours as investigators examined the crash scene.
