The Florida Highway Patrol said a child was killed in a crash on State Road 16 near County Road 315A.
The crash was between two vehicles, a 2003 Pontiac Vibe and a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck, FHP said.
The child, identified by FHP as 4-year-old Jason Gallion, was traveling as a passenger in the Pontiac. The driver of the Pontiac was 29-year-old Jennifer Elizabeth King of Middleburg. It is not yet known if or how the woman was related to the child.
The Pontiac was traveling eastbound on SR 16, ran off the road and overcorrected, FHP said. The Pontiac then lost control and went onto CR 315A and struck the Ford Ranger, driven by 69-year-old Carlton Silcox Jr. of Middleburg.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene and both the driver of the truck and the driver of the SUV were transported to Orange Park Medical Center and are listed as critical.
