Troopers found a moped abandoned on Sandridge Road at Robbie Lee Lane at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
They say it appears the moped was rear-ended while driving westbound.
They found the body of the woman they believe was driving that moped on the shoulder of U.S. 17 at Village Square Parkway.

"That's bizarre," neighbor Chad Weeks said. "That just doesn't seem very possible."
Village Square Parkway leads to Baptist Health's Clay campus.
Action News Jax asked FHP how her body got there. Troopers said they are still trying to figure that out.
"Maybe it was someone trying to transport her to a hospital. I don't know. That's just crazy," Weeks said. "I don't see how that could happen."
Troopers believe the car involved could be a small black vehicle with front-end damage.

Other neighbors told Action News Jax they want the driver to come forward.
"It's very scary because, you know, obviously they don't have a heart if they left the scene," one mom, who didn't want to be identified, said. "He or she is just going about their day with no regards to what they just did to somebody's family."
FHP is asking anyone who was in the area and may have seen anything to call them or Crime Stoppers immediately.
