Fire chief accused of pulling over school bus

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Clay County fire chief is under investigation after being accused of stopping a school bus after a student flashed his wife.

That battalion chief put on his lights and sirens and pulled over a bus leaving the Keystone Heights High School, even though he works at a fire station in Middleburg.

Raleigh Zike has been with the fire department for a number of years.

According to the police dispatch records, on Sept. 25 Zike stopped the school bus using his lights and siren on the county-issued vehicle.

The report says Zike got on the bus and accused a student of flashing his wife.

The head of the district's transportation department says Zike was also yelling at the driver and blocking traffic.

Action News Jax reporter Catherine Varnum confronted him about the allegations at his Melrose home Monday.

“You don't want to say anything to defend yourself about what happened in the police report?” Varnum asked.

“No let the supervisor handle it,” Zike said.

Zike is not the only Clay County firefighter currently under investigation right now. A captain is accused of having a sexual encounter with his subordinate inside a fire house while on duty.
