JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The First Alert Weather Team says it’s going to get cold.

Three chapters to the weather story. (1) Widespread rain later this afternoon through mid-day Sunday, (2) very cold temperatures arriving by MLK day morning, and (3) potential impacts from a winter storm for some of our area Tuesday into Wednesday.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Highs today will push 70 degrees despite mostly cloudy skies.
- Light rain moves in early this afternoon, becoming heavier and widespread overnight. A few rumbles of thunder are possible tonight. 1-2″ of rain looks pretty widespread with isolated higher amounts.
- Drastically colder temperatures will rush in Sunday night with lows in the upper 20s/low 30s Monday morning. With wind, it will feel like the upper teens to mid-20s. Patchy black ice is possible in SE GA.
- ARCTIC BLAST: Monday-Thursday mornings will be cold with feels-like temperatures in the teens/20s each morning, and cold high temperatures in the 40s each afternoon.
- TUE./WED.: Not much change with the forecast this morning. Much of NE FL expected to see a cold rain during this time frame with frozen precipitation (freezing rain, sleet, snow) more possible into SE GA. This is still four days out. We’re watching it very closely.
