First Alert Weather Day: Multiple rounds of rain, storms expected

First Alert Weather Day Thursday

Jacksonville, Fl — Plan to get soaked today with multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms, some which may be strong to severe at times.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh is tracking a disturbance out of the Gulf of Mexico that’ll bring multiple rounds of rain and storms.

We may get a lull during the middle of the day before a final band late this afternoon.

“Amounts will average a half inch to an inch and a half with local amounts as much as two inches in a few spots. There is a threat for some strong storms and perhaps an isolated severe storm. We’ll keep you updated round the clock through the day today,” Buresh said.

An evening shower or thunderstorm will eventually end and skies will clear out. Overnight lows fall into the low 60s.

The Jax River Jams concert tonight featuring Shaggy is still all systems go.

“Concert is rain or shine, we’re gonna try to have it tonight if at all possible. No moving to tomorrow. Just have to watch out for dangerous conditions like very high winds, lightning nearby. But otherwise they want to hear Shaggy outside in downtown.”, said CEO Jake Gordon.

Local openers are Hip Hop collective L.O.V.E. Culture and Multi-genre funk band Jeremy Ryan.

Friday begins a warming trend with temperatures climbing to the mid 80s and partly sunny skies. There may be an isolated brief shower but most of the day is dry.

Saturday looks nice with temperatures climbing to near 90 degrees under sunshine.

Our next front arrives late Sunday. It’ll be partly cloud, warm and humid with a few showers. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s ahead of rain and storms.

That front brings lower humidity and cooler air early next week. Temperatures will be below average on Monday.
